About Us

More than 85 rigorous academic research studies conducted over 30 years prove that kids do better when parents are involved. Grades are higher. Test scores improve. Attendance increases.

Schools are challenged to provide every child with the best education possible despite the limitations of tight budgets and government requirements. Schools are expected to do more with less. PTA helps bridge that gap.

Why should you join PTA? To be involved in your child’s education, know what is going on at school, get to know the administration and staff, have a say in what happens at your school, be a positive role model for your child, interact with other parents, help keep our students safe, enhance the academic environment at Lakota, and gain a better understanding of our school system.

How do we raise money?

Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Sales—Every Friday at lunch time—volunteers needed to help bake and sell the cookies. Time commitment is from 9:00 AM—1:00 PM on Friday’s. Our hope is to have enough volunteers so that the commitment would be one Friday a month for any individual.

Lakota Wear Sales—We need volunteers to help set up sales throughout the year. Time commitment would depend on when the sales are set.  Typically we sell at school events, and at select lunches.

Book Fairs—Raises money and/or books for the library—Book fairs are held in October and March in conjunction with the Student Led Conference.s Time commitment is in 2 hour blocks throughout the sale.

Donations—We always accept donations and are grateful for any gift you may be able to give.  We are also set up with many local stores/companies for fundraising programs.  Please see our Free Money for Lakota flyer in the forms page for information on eScrip, Albertson's Community Partners, Printer Cartrige Recycling, Box Tops, Campbells Soup Labels and many more!
